This notice explains why you may have received a letter, what information is involved, and the choices you have — including how to stop receiving letters.
You may have received a letter from a local estate agent, sent on their behalf through PurchaseSecured. These letters are prompted when a residential property in an area returns to the open market — information that is publicly visible on property portals such as Rightmove.
The letter is ordinary local advertising mail from an estate agent introducing their services. It is addressed to "the owner" of a property using the property's published address. We do not know your name, and we do not hold information about your personal circumstances.
The data controller is Transforming Everyday Decisions Limited (registered in England & Wales, company number 16649859), trading as PurchaseSecured. The estate agent on whose behalf a letter was sent is also responsible for their own use of your information.
We do not collect or use special category data, financial information, or details about your personal situation.
We rely on legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — the legitimate interest of estate agents in marketing their services to properties that are publicly on the market, and our legitimate interest in operating this service. We have weighed this against your rights, which is why the letters use only published address information, carry no personal details about you, and offer a clear, permanent way to opt out.
We keep a record of letters sent, and of any opt-out request, for as long as needed to run the service and to honour opt-outs. Opt-out records are kept permanently so that we can continue to respect your wish not to receive letters.
Every letter includes an opt-out link. Visiting that link permanently suppresses the property from receiving any further letters through PurchaseSecured. You can also email us and we will action it.
Once a property is opted out, our system will not send it further letters.
